Know Your Letter Frequencies

The most common letters in English are E, T, A, O, I, N, S, H, and R. When stuck between two possible answers, the word with more common letters is statistically more likely. This holds even when you have limited clue information.

Pay attention to common combinations: TH is the most common two-letter pair, followed by HE, IN, ER, AN. For three letters: THE, AND, ING, ION. If a clue points at letter patterns, cross-reference with these.

Eliminate, Don't Guess

Strong CluedIn players think in terms of which words the clue rules out, not which words it points to. A clue like "found in a kitchen" eliminates millions of words; you don't need a perfect guess, you need to halve the remaining possibilities each turn.

Match Word Length Early

Always check the length label (short, medium, long) before formulating a guess. Submitting a 5-letter guess when the answer is 9 letters is a wasted attempt. Use your first guess to confirm structure, your second to test a hypothesis, and later guesses to home in.

Pace Yourself

CluedIn has a 10–20 second cooldown between submissions. Use that pause deliberately — re-read the active clue, list candidate words, then commit. Speed-guessing burns clues and wrecks streaks.
